Blood Tracker Request

This information will help determine equipment or duration of required track. Blood trailing or blood tracking is often a misleading term, because the dog is not actually tracking the blood. Most of the time when a hunter calls for a tracking dog, it’s because there isn’t enough blood to track by sight. The dog will go off "scent" stay off of the trail. Each time you search will reduce or destroy the scent trail. Here are some questions that I will ask when called.

When was the animal shot (date and time)?

Do you have permission to hunt in this location?

What did you shoot Deer with?

Where you do believe you shot the deer? Reference picture below.

What was the reaction of the Deer after shooting it?
--Rear legs kick out, deer goes into head down gallop.
--Deer “shivers”, staggers or spins on spot.
--Front (or rear) legs leave ground, deer goes into head down gallop.
--Deer hunches or jumped. Stands hunched or walked off slowly with a stilted gait.
--Walked off slowly with the tail between legs.

Have you marked the location of where the animal was shot. If so, marked with what?

Have you found blood? If so, take a picture and mark the location. (First blood and last blood are the only markings that will help)
